Mendoza biding his time

Judging from his highlight film, Marcus Mendoza certainly has the speed and elusiveness to make quite an impact at the Division I level. Evidently several schools feel the same way as he already has offers from Arizona State, Baylor, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas State, Northwestern, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech.

Statistically, Mendoza's numbers his junior year weren't extraordinarily flashy due to some injuries that kept him out a portion of the season.

"I think I had 85 carries for 805 yards and I think 19 touchdowns. I think I had 15 (TDs) rushing and four receiving. I had seven receptions for 300-something yards," he said.

At 5-foot-10 and 175 pounds, in order to put up those numbers in an injury riddled season takes a great deal of ability.

As far as any early favorites go, Mendoza says that he really hasn't had taken the time to narrow down his list of schools yet.

"No, not really. I know about the schools but I don't really know, know the schools so everybody is equal right now. If I had to (pick five) right now it would probably be Texas Tech, Arizona State, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and probably Northwestern," he said.
