Stellar athlete prospect lands first offer

Athlete prospect Malachi Lewis (6-3, 215, 4.55) from Oxnard (Calif.) Rio Mesa received his first offer recently and now that he has received his first there will certainly be more.

"Malachi received his first offer from Nebraska," Rio Mesa coach Bob Gregorchuk said. "There have been a lot of coaches who why it took so long, but it is good to get the first one."

USC head coach Pete Carroll and quarterback coach Steve Sarkisian are scheduled to be on campus Monday (April 24th) or Tuesday (April 25th).

Washington, Washington, Arizona State, Oregon and Cal have also already had representatives on campus and they like what they saw in Lewis. Oregon has already sent Lewis handwritten letters.

Notre Dame, Tennessee and Florida State are also taking a long look at Lewis.

Before too long Lewis could be one of the hottest recruits on the west coast and there is good reason too.

Lewis earned first-team all-CIF, all-county, all-league and League Player of the Year. He was second-team all-state underclassman and second-team super-CIF as a junior.

Lewis played running back rushed for 2,187 yards and 24 touchdowns. His long run was a 75-yarder and he averaged 7.1 yards per carry. He also played some defense racking up 15 tackles and one pick.
