Georgia's Hickson Impressive in Houston

If you're a big-time basketball prospect, chances are good that you were in Houston this past weekend showing your wares in front of hundreds of college coaches. With well over 100 AAU teams from all parts of the nation represented, it's easy to get lost in the shuffle, but one player who had no problem standing out is Georgia big-man J.J. Hickson, one of the top 'bigs' in the '07 class, and a player that sits high on Tennessee's wish-list.

What separates Hickson from most other posts in his age group is his impressive footwork and agility to go alongside a body and athleticism that match-up with anyone he'll encounter down on the low-blocks.

Hickson specifically mentioned Tennessee, Florida and Alabama as three schools that he was interested in, but made it a point to say that he wasn't ready to put his list in any specific order, or even trim it to a firm top-five.

One thing that was readily apparent on Saturday at the Kingswood is that plenty of those coaches and schools are looking long and hard at Hickson. During one of his games on Saturday afternoon, it looked like an SEC coaches' convention with Pearl and Billy Donovan leaning up against one wall under the basket and conversing while Hickson played, with Mark Gottfried looking on from one corner, and assistants from virtually every other ACC and SEC program in the gym.

Rivals.com currently rates Hickson as the No. 20 player in the Class of 2007 and don't look for him to drop when the rankings are re-done in the near future.
