Vols Back in D.C. Looking for Defense
Based off the results of spring practice, it looks like Tennessee struck recruiting gold in Washington D.C. with the progress of redshirt freshman linebacker Rico McCoy. The Vols are recruiting the area heavily again this year, and one of those prominent targets in the Class of 2007 is Tony Tucker, who is showing signs of being one of the nation's top defensive ends.
Tucker (6-foot-2, 225 pounds, 4.65 40-yard dash) is from McCoy's alma mater, St. John's, in D.C., and though that tie has played no small part in at least helping the Vols get their foot in the door recruiting-wise, Tucker says it's by no means the only reason that he's got some early interest in the Vols.
He's already made unofficial visits this spring to Maryland, Penn State and Georgia Tech. He has family in Georgia, and made the visit to the Tech campus this spring while visiting relatives. He plans to use another family trip this summer to stop by Knoxville.
