Survival of the Phittest Player Evaluations
The was some fine young talent on display at the 2006 Survival of the Phittest AAU Tournament this past Weekend at Villanova University. Here are a few player evaluations (in Class order):
Marcus Morris, 6'8", Class of 2007, Prep Charter, PA, Hunting Park Warriors
Marcus has developed a more fluid handle and the ability to be more effective in transition. Good agility for a big player. Can shoot the ball out to the arc and has an improved feel for the game. Marcus has all the tools to develop into a quality High Major wing player or he could choose to bulk up and play the 4 in college.
Markieff Morris, 6'9", Class of 2007, Prep Charter, PA, Hunting Park Warriors
More of an inside-outside player than Marcus - Markieff has a little more size and willingness to mix it up inside. He displayed the ability to knock down the elbow jumper and drained 12-footers on the baseline as well. Quick release, nice arc and touch on his shot for a big. Like Marcus, Markieff could develop into a real gem. If the Twins are a package deal, some college is getting a very nice package - the Twins really play well together. The Twins are under-rated nationally!
Nasir Robinson, 6'5", Class of 2008, American Christian, PA, Team Final
"Nas" is toughness personified. He isn't a speed merchant but he has a quick and long first step that makes him effective off the bounce. His shot from deep needs to show continued improvement but Robinson can score effectively in transition and breaking down his defender with the dribble. Hard-nosed defender. Thick build - will have to stay lean to maintain quickness.
