Alabama lands surprise commitment

Alabama was on the receiving end of one of five verbal commitments to come from Lakeland, Fla., High prospects this week when Jamar Taylor, one of the biggest sleeper running backs in the Southeast, cast his lot with Mike Shula and the Crimson Tide on Wednesday.

"I committed to Coach Chris Ball earlier today. He has been recruiting me really hard and me and some of my other teammates said we wanted to get our decision behind us if we knew and I knew," Taylor said. "Alabama has done the best job recruiting me and I just felt comfortable. Coach Ball was honest with me and said that I could come in and compete for playing time and that's all I could ask for.

"Coach Ball was down here in May and I saw how close he was watching me. We starting talking and texting and I felt comfortable with what he was telling me about Alabama. Heading into this year Alabama was a school that was high on my list and when they offered I knew that I was going to be checking them out hard. Everything just fit for me so I went ahead and committed today."
