Carter breaks out
In the days that have passed since the Longhorns' first mini-camp, several of the commitments that fared well at the event have been profiled, including a handful of prospects from the offensive side of the ball.
While the guys on offense certainly did perform at a high level, there were also some strong performances from the defensive commitments, including a showing by defensive end Russell Carter that has drawn rave reviews from several of the camp's participants.
Matched up against a group of offensive linemen that is considered the best of the country, Carter did more than just hold his own. The Houston Westbury product reportedly was a fixture in the offensive backfield, and he gave credit to Texas defensive line coach Oscar Giles.
