Workout Insider Report: Xavier Lee ready to roll
Summer workouts are far different than spring practice in that there is no hitting, no helmets or pads, no assistant coaches present outside of the strength and conditioning staff, and the atmosphere is much more laid back. However, in terms of player participation, there has been one noticeable change from the spring to the summer -- quarterback Xavier Lee is now an active member of the Seminole football team.
The sophomore signal-caller was on the roster this past spring, but because he was recovering from shoulder surgery he was held out of almost everything including all of the passing drills and scrimmages. As a result, Lee was reduced to being a spectator while Drew Weatherford ran the show with support from walk-ons and incoming freshman Christian Ponder.
There is a huge difference this summer as the former prep All-American is taking part in all the workout drills, lifting weights and participating in the player-run passing sessions. He's also been attached at the hip with fellow quarterback and good friend Drew Weatherford.
"It's been going well," Lee told Warchant.com. "I'm just getting a feel for it and getting used to everything."
