Hoops: U-M still high on Indiana stars

Summer is a time for shaking things out for a number of recruits, the AAU circuit a chance to prove themselves and unofficial visits an opportunity to weed schools out and see who is really interested. U-M has received a visit from one standout from the state of Indiana already and could see another on campus in the weeks to come.

Wayne Brumm's SYF Players AAU squad might have been one of the hottest teams on the spring circuit, finishing near the top at a number of tournaments and capturing the Nike Memorial Day Classic in Nashville, Tenn. Two Michigan targets, Anderson (Ind.) Highland center Gary McGhee and Valparaiso (Ind.) combo forward Scott Martin have helped lead the way.

Rivals.com's Jerry Meyer reported "the light has gone on" for McGhee, noting his big weekend in Nashville had raised his stock.

Interest picked up dramatically after McGhee's performance at the Kingwood Classic in late April. He was stellar on defense in a loss to the Houston Hoops, helping contain Kevin Love, and continued to play well in following tournaments. South Florida, DePaul, Wyoming, Virginia, Wisconsin (visit), Ball State (visit), Bowling Green and Bradley have reportedly offered, while he's also attracting attention from Xavier, Oregon State, Michigan, Indiana, Purdue, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech and Dayton.
