Four-star has open mind

Four-star running back Shane Vereen (5-10, 180, 4.5) from Valencia, Calif., is so versatile that he is getting just as many looks for his cornerback skills as he is as a running back.

Vereen has picked up offers by the likes of UCLA, USC, Cal, Stanford, Oregon, Washington, Arizona State, Colorado, Nebraska and Duke.

"I don't have a list of favorites," Vereen said. "I'm even undecided if I will attend any camps.

"I have already taken a lot of taken a lot of unofficial visits to most schools in the West. I have been to UCLA, USC, Stanford, Cal and Oregon."

On the offensive side of the ball, Vereen rushed for 1,638 yards and scored 28 rushing touchdowns. He was just as dangerous as a receiver hauling in 52 receptions for 898 receiving yards and seven more scores.

As a cornerback, Vereen racked up 43 tackles, three picks and one sack. He also returned punts and kicks as a junior.

Vereen earned Co-League Back of the Year with his teammate and Ole Miss bound quarterback Michael Herrick. He was also selected all-CIF for his 2005 performance.

Vareen is a member of the Rivals.com Rivals250 team for the class of 2007 landing as the nation's No. 156 prospect at any position.
