Four-star busy on the camp scene

Four-star athlete prospect Malachi Lewis (6-3, 215, 4.48) from Oxnard (Calif.) Rio Mesa started the recruiting process as an obscure prospect from Ventura County. That all changed this past spring when Lewis racked up an abundance of offers and is now known from coast-to-coast.

There aren't many guys who have the size and speed combo that Lewis has. How many guys who are just a shade under 6-foot-4 and weigh in at 215-pounds do you know who can run the 100-meter in 10.83?

Lewis recently ran a 10.83 in a league meet, and his stock has become scorching.

The speedy big man backed up his heady 100 time with an outstanding 4.31 40 time at the Ventura County Combine in front of a host of D-I coaches. Lewis picked up six offers the very next day and four the day after that.

The latest two teams to offer Lewis are Ole Miss and Washington.

Lewis was at USC's Rising Senior Camp yesterday and though he played with tired legs because he just finished the Beyond 2000 Elite Camp and he still he ran 4.47 electronic 40 time.
