UK coaches catch Hickson at ABCD

Kentucky coaches Tubby Smith and Scott Rigot were on hand Thursday at the Reebok ABCD Camp for a close look at some of the Wildcats' prime recruiting targets for 2007, including the player who may be at the top of their wish list.

J.J. Hickson, a 6-foot-8, 230-pound power forward from Marietta, Ga.,, showed why he has earned five stars from Rivals.com on the first day of the camp. In his first two games, Hickson scored 13 points and pulled down 14 rebounds while making his presence known on the defensive end of the court by altering numerous shots with his explosive leaping ability.

"I did alright," Hickson said modestly. "Really, I can play better. I'm looking forward to tomorrow because I know I can do more than I did today. I've really been looking forward to this because you get to play against the best players in the country and see where you stand. You see everybody going real hard. It brings out the best in you."
