After spending the last two season as a situational player, junior defensive end Eugene Bright says he's ready for an opportunity to play every down.
Whether or not he gets that chance, however, remains to be seen, as the Boilermakers spent the off-season looking to upgrade at a position that has seen more than its share of talented players pass through during the Joe Tiller Era. JUCO transfers Mike McDonald and Jeff Benjamin, both of whom were on campus for spring practice, were brought in to challenge for spots.
Right now, though, Bright is penciled in as a starting end, with multi-year starter Anthony Spencer set on the opposite side.
"I'm getting stronger in the weight room to make me that all-purpose defensive end," said the 6-foot-4, 254-pound Bright, "and be a little more athletic so I can move around a little better.
