In-state DT emerging as 2008 target

Kentucky is only two verbal commitments into its 2007 football recruiting class, but the Wildcats may have already identified one of their top in-state targets for next year.

Brandon Newman is a rising junior from Louisville Pleasure Ridge Park who recently made a visit to UK's summer camp.

"I think he's going to be a really special guy," PRP coach Chris Wolfe said. "He went to UK's camp in June and the staff was very impressed with him. They said he compared very favorably to Myron Pryor, who was a great player here in Louisville and by all accounts had a really good spring down there."

Wolfe, who coached current UK running back Alfonso Smith when he was at Louisville Waggener, said the Cats have yet to extend an official scholarship offer, but it appears that its only a matter of time.
