FSU working hard for Katuka, Alabi
Solomon Alabi and Joseph Katuka aren't necessarily a package deal, but it's certainly difficult to talk about one without mentioning the other -- especially as it relates to the Florida State basketball program's recruiting efforts.
The pair of 7-foot juniors -- Alabi is officially listed at 7-foot-1 by Rivals.com and Katuka is listed at 6-foot-10 -- both enrolled at Montverde Academy after moving to the United States from Nigeria. Both seem to have plenty of qualify options when it comes to deciding on a college. And both have FSU among their favorites.
"Of all the schools recruiting them, Florida State has been involved the longest," said Montverde Academy coach Kevin Sutton. "Florida State's coaches have done a great job of really staying active with both of them. They've been down to campus whenever they can, following games, attending practices and workouts. They've done a very good job and have dotted every 'i' and crossed every 't.'"
In fact, Sutton said this is the most time and effort he has seen FSU coach Leonard Hamilton and associate head coach Stan Jones put into recruiting a prospect -- or, rather, a pair of prospects.
