Miners get surprise Houston commit

After originally signing with Colorado last November, Houston, Texas, Bellaire small forward Dale Vanwright decided to re-open his recruitment. Upon release, that road has finally led to a new home.

The 6-foot-6, 200-pound small forward made his decision today on where he would be playing this fall. His father, Dale Vanwright Sr., told Rivals.com of his son's decision.

"Dale Vanwright has committed to UTEP Miners," Vanwright's father said. "After receiving interest from schools such as Iowa State, Nebraska, New Orleans, Dale has decided to commit to play for coach Doc Sadler and the UTEP Miners this fall 2006."

Vanwright will take an official visit to UTEP on Aug. 5 where he will sign his scholarship papers and be enrolled with the Miners. His father said that it just felt right to his son.

Being able to stay in Texas was a big part of that but coach Sadler had a lot to do with his decision as well.
