Safety beginning to play more at CB
There is a traffic jam at safety with Brandon Meriweather, Kenny Phillips and former starter Anthony Reddick battling for two spots.
And while Meriweather and Phillips still line up in the stretch depth chart as the first-team safeties, Meriweather is finding himself playing cornerback more and more often during 11-on-11 work.
"Right now it's half of the time at corner, half of the time at safety," said Meriweather, a 6-foot-0, 195-pounder. "I look at playing cornerback as a challenge. My coaches think me playing there will help the team if I can play both."
