Day 6: Rod praises Dervil, challenges Pat McAfee
MORGANTOWN--WVU head coach Rich Rodriguez met with about a dozen media members after the morning practice today. His team took the field earlier in what he terms a light work out before going full pads this afternoon for some hitting.
The coach said Pat White did more in Day 3 since he experienced a slight muscle sprain in a Monday shells drill. The sophomore starting quarterback had a self-imposed nick while the running the ball himself and stretching small muscle on his left (throwing side). Rod is taking a cautionary view of his quarterback. But he is happy that the No. 2s, rookies Jarrett Brown and Nate Sowers, get more acclimated to the spread offense.
Rod has lowered the redshirts' throwing drills so as not to stress their arms. In baseball parlance, "fatigue arm" is not something the coach wants in Day 6 with the Sept. 2 opener with Marshall upcoming.
