Dorrell pleased with AM practice

It was obvious that Coach Karl Dorrell likes what he is seeing so far in training camp. During Saturday's morning practice, though there still work to be done, it was a good solid competitive practice. For of the fans there most went away with a positive attitude about the future of this team.

"Practice was good, practice was good," Dorrell said. "I'm glad that now we're starting more competitive things. We went through that five day period and now there is something situational we can do almost every day. Even the days that we don't have full pads on we can do some passing drills and get a lot of competitive work in.

"Today we did some scrimmaging with some short yardage and goal line. The offense did well and the defense did well in certain portions of those periods, too.

"I think our pass defense is really starting to show up particularly on our seven-on-seven. They are doing a nice job of catching our offense and it seems like they have done a nice job this summer knowing our offense as well as our offense does and that's good. That's signs of good team that has worked hard over the summer and putting the offense through some tough, tough trials. I'm really happy about that.

"I think the biggest issue is we want to continue to work on is being able to run the football and being able to defense the run. Those are the two things we're going to spend a lot of time in this camp.
