Training camp review

Below, GoldandBlack.com takes a superlative look back at Training Camp 2006 for the Boilermaker football team.

Training Camp MVP

Sophomore receiver Greg Orton was downright dominant at times during camp. He caught virtually everything that came within a reasonable distance of him and made more leaping circus catches over defenders than can probably be counted.

"I worked pretty hard in the off-season," Orton said. "Now it's just routine. It's like a reward for the hard work and I'm just helping my team be the best it can be, doing my part to help us get better and win."

And, he played hurt, running on a gimpy ankle but missing minimal practice time.

"Orton had the best camp of any of the receivers, including (Dorien) Bryant," Coach Joe Tiller said.

That is a mouthful, considering that Bryant, up until perhaps the final day, had a fine camp himself, the kind you'd expect from a player who should be one of the Big Ten's top offensive players this year.
