Players catching Fran's attention

The newly loquacious Dennis Franchione met with the media Saturday after the Aggies' situational scrimmage in the morning and an afternoon practice and discussed a number of players and their positions on the depth chart. Though it's always difficult to predict future performance from a coach's comments, it appears that one major concern - the team's depth - might become less of an issue than had been feared.

With the departure of William Morrissey, there had been some fear that the Aggies might be thin at defensive tackle behind projected starters Red Bryant and Bryce Reed. Franchione's comments Saturday, however, may be an indication that someone has moved up and grabbed the third tackle spot behind the incumbents.

"Kellen Heard really made some nice plays this morning," he said.
