NU Notes: Callahan hopes to get Ganz some reps

One of the things you would like to see Nebraska do in their first two games against Louisiana Tech and Nicholls State is to give sophomore quarterback Joe Ganz a series or two of live action.

Since head coach Bill Callahan has been in Lincoln, former walk-on Ryan Goodman (Western Illinois), sophomore Beau Davis (Texas Tech) and Harrison Beck (Kansas State, Colorado) are the only back-up quarterback to ever see live game reps.

Goodman's game against WIU and Beck's game against CU were actually the only situations that the score was out of hand enough in the second half to get a back-up in.

Callahan didn't make any guarantees that Ganz will see any series on Saturday, but he definitely hopes to get him some reps if it all works out.

"It would be great," Callahan said when asked how nice it would be to get Ganz in on Saturday. "I think he's anxious to get in. He's really prepared himself well. He's a smart, articulate, sharp quarterback that has really mastered the system.
