Nebraska is not thinking about USC this week

The message coming out of Tuesday's press conference at Memorial Stadium rang loud and clear - Nebraska is focusing on one opponent this week and its initials aren't USC.

"This game is strictly, totally about Nicholls State," Nebraska head coach Bill Callahan said. "It has nothing to do with USC. We'll handle USC when we get to USC. This week is about Nicholls State for our football team. I want to be very clear about that."

Callahan's strong words came in response to questions and references from reporters regarding the Huskers' Sept. 16 match-up against Southern California, a perennial college football juggernaut.

"Let's just focus in on what we've got to get done this week," Callahan added. "We're going to do everything we can to win this football game and our preparation is dedicated to that."

Following the lead of their coach, Nebraska players are also insisting that this week's focus in practice is strictly on Division I-AA Nicholls State, not the Trojans.
