Bell playing well at new school

Dallas Hillcrest defensive back Derrius Bell has made his transition to his new school quite well so far in his senior season. Playing for his third school in three years after transferring from Arlington Grace Prep over the summer, Bell has helped his squad to a 2-1 record playing on both sides of the ball.

Bell, already a known name to several colleges before his move, is picking up more recruiting interest and has six offers to show for from the likes of TCU, Tulsa, UTEP, SMU, Baylor, and Colorado State.

Bell says three teams are sticking out above the others at the moment.

"Right now I'm leaning towards Tulsa, CSU, and Baylor," he said. "I like those teams because they've been recruiting me the hardest ever since I had a chance to get recruited. They've just showed me a lot of love ever since the beginning."

Another school that Bell says interests him is TCU, which he says the proximity of the school is something he's looking for.

"They're not recruiting me as hard as the others," he said. "They had a coach come by my school yesterday. They're recruiting me as a corner. I'm very interested in them, in fact I'm interested in any school that wants to take the time and show interest in me. I also like that TCU is close, that's one of the things I'm looking at, playing close to home."

Bell doesn't have any visits set yet but is hearing plenty about getting some scheduled.

"I don't have any visits planned yet," he said. "CSU and Tulsa have talked about setting up an official and Wisconsin is another school that wants me to visit."

Although he's helped his team to a 2-1 record, the 5-foot-9, 160 pound prospect says his team should be undefeated after losing a close game earlier this season.

"We should be 3-0, we lost a nail biter a few weeks ago," he said. "Last week I scored the winning touchdown, I've been doing pretty good on defense, I haven't had too many thrown balls in my direction, teams just don't throw my way. I'm not trying to sound cocky or anything, it's just what they do. I do have a good amount of tackles though, so far everything is going real good."
