Scouting the Frogs

So, how will the Utes bounce back after their 36-3 pounding at the hands of Boise State? Let's consult the history books. The last time Utah lost by this many points at home was in 1989, when Colorado State thrashed the Utes 50-10, also on homecoming. The next week the Utes had a bye, but then they beat New Mexico at Rice Stadium 41-39. That season ended in a 4-8 record, with Jim Fassel getting the boot.

Now that the history lesson is over, let's focus on the now. Utah is still undefeated in the MWC, and every game from here on out should be easier then the two teams they've lost to. But that doesn't mean the games will actually be easy. TCU comes to town on Thursday and the Frogs are backed into a corner. They are 0-1 in league play after getting dominated at home by BYU.

Should the Utes triumph on Thursday, the defending champs would be 0-2 in the MWC, probably making repeating impossible. It would be nice revenge for the Utes, who had their 18-game winning streak snapped in Fort Worth last season.
