Model of consistency

You could envision it before it ever happened because you've seen it a million times.

Even before members of the sixth-ranked Texas Longhorns addressed the media on Monday at the school's weekly press gathering, you knew what the company line would be before anyone had time to issue the first statement.

The Bears Bears are bad news. In case you might have missed it in the sports section, the rough and ready boys from the Brazos are tied with the Longhorns for first place in the Big 12 South with a perfect 2-0 record. Saturday's match-up between the two in-state rivals is for first place in the conference.

This is the most important game of the season.

You guys know the drill. Talking up the opposing team is one of the great traditions in all of college sports. When Lou Holtz was the head coach at Notre Dame, he could make Bye Week University appear to be the second coming of Lombardi's Packer's.

So, it should come to nobody's surprise on Monday morning when Texas junior offensive lineman Tony Hills stepped up to bat lead-off in today's interview session and knocked one right out of the park.

"We're starting over with Baylor," Hills said. "This is whole (new) season. This game is just as important as OU, if not more important because we're tied with these guys in the Big 12 (South). They have two wins in the Big 12 and we have two wins in the Big 12, so it's going to be a crucial game."
