Midseason report card

At 4-2, the Utes are on their way to another bowl game, if not the BCS game some fans hoped for before the opener. But the Utes have won the games they have supposed to, which should bode well as they enter a long stretch where they will be favored in just about every game. There have been many bright spots, a few dark ones and perhaps a bit of twilight in the first half of the 2006 season. Let's break it down position by position.

The main attraction of the offseason has turned into a question mark in practical application. Brett Ratliff is only completing 51.5 percent of his passes, but also has 10 touchdown passes. He is great when the Utes are ahead, but presses when they get behind. Tommy Grady probably would have had a better chance at unseating Ratliff by now, but has been unimpressive in his limited action, throwing three interceptions in only 14 attempts.
Grade: C+
