Scalici: Five on the Spot

This week the Tide returns to SEC play against a physical Ole Miss team that has played tough in each of its conference games this season. These are the five Crimson Tide players that must step their games up this week for Game 7 against the Rebels.

RB Kenneth Darby - After his first 100-yard game since 2005, Darby must prove he can rack up yards against a legit SEC defense. A more consistent passing threat will help Darby achieve this but a few strong runs early in the game will go a long way towards selling the Ole Miss defense on what a threat Darby can still be.

LBs Juwan Simpson and Prince Hall - With Terrence Jones still not at 100 percent and the Rebels taking aim at what they perceive as a soft Tide run defense, the senior and freshman linebackers must make more plays and stand their ground to prevent the Tide from giving another big rushing total.

RB Jimmy Johns - The quarterback-turned-running back took more than a few snaps this week under center to try and iron out the kinks in what Dave Rader still believes can be a dynamic offensive package. When Johns sets up under center this week, he needs to be able to show his coaches and teammates that the package can live up to Rader's hype.

QB Jimmy Barnes - Becoming the number two quarterback doesn't just mean Barnes will need to be ready to play should Wilson come out with an injury. Barnes will take on new responsibilities on the sidelines as the top backup and his readiness will be crucial to helping the offense run smoothly.
