Damion James is ready to have fun

Forward Damion James will be a key player for the Texas Longhorns in the 2006-07 season. The combo forward brings athleticism and versatility to the program that has not been seen at forward under Rick Barnes. With the ability to shoot the three, put the ball on the floor from anywhere, find the open man, rebound, defend and run the floor, James has a skill set rarely seen at Texas.

Orangebloods.com recently sat down with James to talk about a few subjects.

On the switch from Oklahoma to Texas and the similarities between the two programs:

Things happen for a reason you know. Things happen for a reason. I chose Oklahoma to go there for Coach Sampson because he is an awesome coach, but he had to make a decision for his family and this was the best decision for mine also.

On the similarities between the programs:

"I think so. Texas was recruiting me pretty hard in the first place, but I chose Oklahoma because that is whom I felt better with at the time. Now, I realize that Texas is the best place for me because of the coaches and it's like a big family. I came in with six other dudes just like myself, so it's just good for me. My family is close by and can come watch me play. It's a great atmosphere right now.

On what James sees himself bringing to the Longhorn program:

Hard work and dedication. I'm dedicated to winning and I work my butt off every day. The coaches will put us in the best position to make plays. I want to make plays; Kevin is going to make plays, Matt Hill, A.J. Abrams and just everyone. I love being around Kevin and everybody. It's just fun.
