Defense struggles in Stillwater

For the fourth straight week, Texas A&M had to play all 60 minutes of regulation to decide the outcome at the final gun. On Saturday against Oklahoma State the team needed even longer to pick up their third consecutive league win by going to overtime and blocking an extra point to escape with a dramatic 34-33 victory.

A&M kept its faithful in suspense until the final three seconds of regulation when a falling Stephen McGee hit tight end Joey Thomas for the game-tying touchdown.

After losing the coin toss in overtime and playing offense first, the Aggies quickly ran Mike Goodson on an outside pitch for 11 yards, and a late hit personal foul tacked on another seven yards. Jorvorskie Lane easily punched it in for the 34-27 lead, but OSU quickly countered when backup quarterback Zac Robinson hit Adarius Bowman for the 15 yard score.

However, the Aggie defensive front led by Chris Harrington and Red Bryant surged forward on the extra point, and Bryant's raised arm blocked the attempt abruptly ending the game in front of a shocked OSU homecoming crowd.
