Practice musings and observations
You wouldn't think that UCLA lost a heartbreaker last Saturday with the approach the coaches and the team have taken this week while getting ready for Washington State. It is a testimony for everyone involved that the attitude is this sharp. Now the most important thing is the Bruins must translate their practice effort unto the field.
Many times when a team loses in such a gut wrenching way that the Bruins did Saturday they cave in and call it a season. If focus, hustle and intensity are any indication then this bunch will not quit.
To a man, this team feels they can win out but they are quick to say their approach is one game at a time.
When a team digs a hole for themselves it creates a situation where every game has major implications. Every game becomes that much more important and that is why the Washington State game is huge for the Bruins.
There isn't any wiggle room for the Bruins and they are practicing like they still have a chance for the championship. While winning a championship is a far away dream, this group has a chance to still finish strong and get their mindset in groove to be truly special in 2007.
One of the biggest questions going into this week was how would the team respond after Notre Dame and if the first two practices are any gage, they should be ready go.
