Mark Richt Wants a Bowl Game
The Georgia Bulldogs (6-4, 3-4) returned outside for practice
Wednesday in preparation for the road game against the Auburn Tigers (9-1, 5-1)
Saturday in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Mark Richt announced after
practice that Georgia who is bowl eligible with six wins would accept any bowl
offer they receive.
"If we are invited to a bowl we are going unless
one of my bosses tells me we are not, but if it is up to me we are going,"
Georgia could end up in any of the lower five SEC bowl
games starting with the Chik-fil-A Bowl or they could drop all the way to the
Independence Bowl or an at-large bid to a smaller bowl depending on how many
SEC teams are eligible for a bowl at the end of the regular season.
Coach Richt said following the close losses to Vanderbilt,
Florida, and Kentucky the team has to change their goals for this season and
they are playing for their pride now.
"We have had to adjust our goals before, so that
is not brand new, but for the most part, most of the years we have been here
and the years even before I got here, the teams I was associated with were in
the race for a championship of some kind and a lot of the goals set forth before
the season are still attainable," said Richt. "Right now, we have
no shot at a National Championship, no shot at a SEC Championship, and some
other things we were taking pride in like ten win seasons we have no chance
at. We have no chance of finishing in the top ten," said Richt. "A
lot of the thing we are used to talking about we cannot talk about right now,
so now we have to find out what kind of men are we."
