Letter of intent day fireworks
Today was a big day for UW. Spencer Hawes was first to speak at today's press conference. "My knee is fine, I don't think its 100%, but it's definitely up there. Its felt pretty good going through everything, it's just a question of mostly getting my condition back up."
Spencer then moved over and Coach Lorenzo Romar took over and made his opening remarks. "Exciting day for us. We didn't have a whole lot of guys to sign, but we did sign two. Justin Holiday, from Campbell Hall High School in Southern California and Matthew Bryan-Amaning from South Kent Prep School."
"We feel we have two quality future Huskies. Justin Holiday is a wing player that has his best days ahead of him. Very long, loves to defend, is very active and gets his hands on a lot of basketballs. As a junior averaged 10 rebounds a game, is really accustomed to winning and brings a great attitude to our program. Matthew Bryan-Amaning is about six foot eight, with a seven foot three inch wingspan and he can handle the ball and really run the floor."
"He is a forward, not a point guard, but he really fits in with the way we play, the same with Justin Holiday. I think it's important that you recruit those type players. Once you're in a program and have laid the foundation, it's really important that you recruit those type players that fit in with what you're doing. When we first got here, we had to take whatever we had, play with what you had and play to that group of strengths. I think now with our up tempo, high pressure style, those two will fit in really well."
