Moore wants to end NU career 'the right way'

Listening to Jay Moore speak about the opportunity that's staring the Nebraska football team in the eye and it becomes clear that the Elkhorn senior isn't going to be satisfied with what he's accomplished during his collegiate playing career unless the Huskers finish the season with a championship run.

Anything less than playing in the Big 12 Championship game and a top-tier bowl will be a huge disappointment for a home-state kid who grew up dreaming of the day when he would help the Huskers win their next conference and national championship.

"I want to end this season the right way," Moore said Tuesday. "This being my senior year, my last go-around, I just want to leave this program knowing that I did everything I could to get this program back to where it used to be."

The 6-foot-4, 280-pound defensive end is well aware of where the Nebraska program used to be. As a kid, Moore idolized the Huskers and watched them win three national championships in the 1990s. He can still remember when winning the national title was the primary goal for the Huskers and winning the Big 12 North was a given.
