Simply dominant

Coming into the 2006 season, big things were expected from fifth-year senior defensive end Anthony Spencer.

But it's debatable whether or not it could have been reasonably expected for him to have the sort of dominant season he's delivered.

Purdue's been known since Coach Joe Tiller's arrival in 1997 to turn out great defensive ends, the likes of which range from Rosevelt Colvin in the late '90s to Shaun Phillips in this century.

But Spencer is arguably posting the best season of any of his predecessors.
