Eilert anxious to meet new ISU coach

The resignation of head coach Dan McCarney earlier this month hit Iowa State commitment Will Eilert of Grinnell (Iowa) particularly hard. One of the major reasons he decided for the Cyclones in the first place was because of Coach McCarney and his staff. Now that Gene Chizik has been tabbed as the next man to head the Iowa State program, Eilert gave his reactions.

"I was real close to Coach Mac and the whole staff there, so it really kind of sucked when all that happened, but when I finally heard who they were bringing in, it was 'Wow, they got a pretty big name guy,'" Eilert remarked.

"I have heard nothing but good things about him. It's a pretty good time for Iowa State right now I think. I'm real excited about the direction they are going. With [Chizik] being a part of such great teams, I think he knows how to win."
