Track Champion picks Green and White

One of the top un-committed plays in the state of Michigan has decided to play his college football for Mark Dantonio and the Michigan State Spartans Atthlete recruit Chris Rucker of Detroit Country Day High School gave the Spartans a commitment after his official visit to East Lansing this weekend.

The 5-foot-9, 170-pound Rucker selected the Spartans over scholarship offers from Iowa, Purdue and a host of MAC conference teams. Rucker is rated the #27 player in Michigan by SpartanMag.com.

Rucker is listed as an Athlete in the Rivals.com database, but he will likely play wide receiver for the Spartans. He does have the ability to play defensive back as well. Rucker was named 1st Team All-State Class B as a defensive back.

One of Rucker's best attributes is his speed. He was State Champion last spring in the Division 3 100-Meters. What was amazing about his victory is that he won the race by a full half second. His time of 10.32 second shattered the old state record of 10.76 held by Northwestern wide receiver Kim Thompson.

Rucker was used all over the field this fall. On defense he played cornerback. On offense he played wide receiver and also spelled Jonas Gray at running back. Rucker also excelled on special teams.

Rucker was recruited for the Spartan Running Back Coach Dan Enos. Coach Enos recruited Detroit Country Day High School for Coach Dantonio while at Cincinnati. He had success there, signing Ernest Jackson.

The commitment of Rucker not only gives the Spartans an excellent prospect, it gives them another player from one of the top high schools in the metro area as far as producing high school talent.

Country Day is expected to have two high level division one prospect next season, running back Jonas Gray and linebacker Kenny Demens.

Spartanmag.com will have much more on Rucker in the near future.
