Taylor impressed on official visit

In June Alabama received a surprise commitment from Lakeland (Fla.) High School running back Jamar Taylor. It was surprising only in the fact that the Tide staff wasn't expected to take a back in the 2007 class. However, Taylor, 5-foot-9, 204-pounds, chose Alabama over offers from Ole Miss, Oregon and West Virginia among others and has held firm despite overtures from other programs. This weekend Taylor was in Tuscaloosa for his official visit to Alabama and returned with good things to say.

"I got there Friday and met up with the coaches and some of the players. They were all glad to see me and I was the only official visitor this weekend so I got a lot of attention. Chris Rogers was my host and he took me out that night. We didn't go to any parties but Chris is a cool guy and he took me around and introduced me to a lot of people and showed me the sights," Taylor said. "The best part was getting to watch them practice for the bowl game. It was interesting to see how hard they were working despite the coaching situation. They had a good pace and all the guys were working hard. It taught me a lot about how much pride a team like Alabama has. They expect to overcome the obstacles and that impresses me."
