Mason Foster says he's ready for the Pac-10

While Mason Foster may be from a small high school in California, he is a big-time player. This season, Foster's Seaside high school won the Central Coast Section small school championship while going 12-1. In addition, Foster was named Defensive Player of the Year award from two different sources (The Salinas Californian and Monterey Herald newspapers). The 6-foot-1 205-pound (4.82) OLB from Monterey gave UW a verbal commitment early this December and is looking to make an immediate impact on a solid Husky defense.

However, the fact that Foster comes from a small high school may raise some red flags for Husky fans. Small school recruits rarely gain enough recognition from major programs to allow them to play at the next level and Foster was no exception, not getting recruited by the Huskies until last spring.

With all this in mind, Foster is cognizant of the fact that his small school roots may make him have to work harder than other players when he gets to UW.
