McMahon puts it in writing for ISU
Wednesday is the first day that mid-year JUCO transfers can sign national letters-of-intent and, as he said he would, Joliet (Ill.) College offensive lineman Joe McMahon was in the process of signing his letter with Iowa State when we talked a short time ago. Here's more on the player who is the first signed and sealed recruit of the Gene Chizik era at ISU.
The 6-foot-4, 290-pound McMahon, a native of Downers Grove (Ill.), said when asked if he was signing with Iowa State today as planned.
ISU was far from the only school interested in McMahon coming out of Joliet as he had six Division I-A scholarship options. He had also received offers from Tulsa, Temple, Kansas State, Illinois and Ole Miss before committing to the Cyclones. His final decision came down to a choice between Iowa State and Tulsa, his top two.
