First look at the 2006 Holiday Bowl
There are those who think that this year's Holiday Bowl, which pits Cal against Texas A&M on Thursday, December 28th at 5:00 PM (televised by ESPN), is uninteresting. Why? There are a number of reasons, but most of the rationale comes down to the "Been There, Done That" sentiment for many who made the trip to the 2004 Holiday Bowl.
Cal football fans certainly remember that bowl game. 45-31 Texas Tech, which pretty much sums up the experience.
There are also those who feel this year has been a huge disappointment for the Golden Bears, and as long as Cal is second fiddle to USC, there is no reason to care whether the Bears win their "meaningless" Bowl game. Which leads us to another popular opinion; the Holiday Bowl game is likely to be a bore. For those that share this outlook, they can't see how Cal - a team that has struggled to find the offensive firepower they possessed at the mid-season point, when they scored 40 plus points in five consecutive games - can liven up a Bowl game with Texas A&M, which typically gets labeled as a traditional boring Big-12 run attack.
