Wildcats to face Huskies in Seattle
Riding an 11-game winning streak, the Wildcats take on a very strong Washington Huskies team in Seattle tonight. Washington is on a bit of an opposite swing from the one Arizona is riding and is coming off of two consecutive road losses at USC and UCLA.
Stud freshmen Spencer Hawes and Quincy Pondexter lead the Huskies in scoring with 16.5 and 13.9 points per game respectively and are both extremely talented, especially for their age.
Hawes and his 61% field goal percentage will prove to be a handful for the Cats and he and frontcourt-mate Jon Brockman make for a duo arguably more talented than the on Arizona faced on Saturday in Brook and Robin Lopez. Brockman himself is averaging a double-double this season, boasting 12.2 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.
Washington's youth extends into the backcourt as Justin Dentmon, Ryan Appleby and Pondexter round out the starting five. Pondexter and Appleby are very dangerous from three-point range, shooting 46% and 42% respectively. Appleby is the only upperclassmen starting for head coach Lorenzo Romar and has already made 32 threes this season.
