Bruins escape with victory

Well, that was fitting. After a week of kicking himself around in media interviews for not taking the final shot against Oregon in last Saturday's loss, Bruin junior guard Arron Afflalo made sure the ball was in his hands when it mattered most as his third-ranked UCLA (15-1, 4-1) team escaped from downtown with a 65-64 victory over a tough USC squad.

Afflalo's mid-range jumper with under five seconds remaining gave his team the lead for good as Gabe Pruitt's desperation half court shot at the buzzer fell short of the rim.
