Monster game has Jones on verge of new record

One of UVa's 2007 basketball recruits who is expected to come in and make a major contribution right away is Jeff Jones. The 6-foot-4, 185-pounder from Monsignor Bonner High School in Drexel Hill, Pa., is a dynamic scorer who many feel could step into the role at Virginia that J.R. Reynolds will be relinquishing after this season. And Jones showed why many people feel that way with a monster game on Sunday.

He and his Monsignor Bonner teammates faced a tall challenge against nationally ranked Neumann-Goretti on Sunday, but a heroic afternoon by Jones almost led to an upset.
