Lee rejuvenated by changes
The debate started almost as soon as Xavier Lee and Drew Weatherford arrived at Florida State. The No. 1 and No. 2 rated prep quarterback prospects in Florida for 2004 brought very different abilities to the table, and both were supposed to represent a major upgrade for FSU at their position.
So far that hasn't happened.
When returning starter Wyatt Sexton gave up football in the summer of 2005, the battle for the starting job was on between the two talented redshirt freshmen. In part because Lee suffered a shoulder injury during two-a-day practices, Weatherford got the nod to run the offense in 2005 and never looked back. Although he had his share of growing pains, the Land O'Lakes native led all freshmen nationally in passing and led FSU to its 12th ACC title.
