Quarterback depth a concern for Tide

Nick Saban's first round of spring drills will get underway at Alabama on March 24, and a stretch of 15 workouts will close with the Crimson Tide's annual A-Day game at Bryant-Denny Stadium on April 21. Position coach: Major Applewhite, first season at Alabama.

Leading candidates: 14 John Parker Wilson (Jr., 6'2, 209)

Next in line: 17 Greg McElroy (rFr., 6'2, 216); 15 Jimmy Barnes (So., 6'5, 229).

2007 Signee: Nick Fanuzzi (San Antonio, Tx.)

<2006 Season: In his first season as the starter, Wilson completed 216 of 379 passes (57 percent) for 2,707 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also threw 10 interceptions. Barnes appeared in two games, completing six of 11 passes for 45 yards and a touchdown.
