Signee Update: Maze brings versatility to Tide

Tarrant athlete Marquis Maze was one of the most sought-after playmakers in the state and no one is more impressed with the 5-foot-8, 160-pound Alabama signee than his high school coach Donnie Rogers.

"He's small but he's very fast," Rogers said. "I see plenty of guys who are small and quick but Marquis is quick and fast. Not only does he run a good 40-yard dash, he can run a good 100-yards as well. He's got that extra gear."

"He's very athletic. He's played safety and cornerback as well as quarterback, tailback, wide receiver, kick returner and punt returner. He can throw the ball 60 yards and jump like a kangaroo. I've seen him stand flat-footed and jump up and dunk a basketball."
