McCarthy one of Ohio's best

After leading Youngstown (Ohio) Cardinal Mooney to the Division IV state crown this season, Dan McCarthy became one of Ohio's top recruiting targets in the Class of 2008. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder excelled on the offensive side of the ball, but he'll likely wind up on defense in college.

"I like both sides of the ball," McCarthy said. "(I'll play) wherever I can make plays."

McCarthy recorded over 2,600 yards of offense as a junior, most of it coming on the ground. His 4.5-speed often allowed him to make something out of nothing but it was his competitiveness that helped him emerge as a player.
