Back in the saddle again

Basketball season got you down? Take heart, Oklahoma State fans - football season is just around the corner.

Following the Cowboys' 34-31 win over tradition-rich Alabama in the 2006 PetroSun Independence Bowl, expectations are high as third-year coach Mike Gundy and his team began their spring workouts Monday.

OSU will practice 14 more times before the annual Orange & White Spring Game on April 14, and like last year, all of the Cowboys' workouts will be open to the public.

Here's a look at five top storylines after Monday's practice:

MAINTAINING MOMENTUM
OSU ended the 2006 season with a 7-5 record and a bowl victory, but junior quarterback Bobby Reid said the team isn't content to live in the past.

"It kind of carries over, and it kind of doesn't," Reid said. "Everybody felt excited after the Alabama game. We still have that game in our minds, but we laid it to rest. We're not going to sit back and say, 'OK - we beat Alabama. That was in '06. This is '07. It's a brand-new season."

HAPPY TO BE BACK
Gundy said he was impressed with his team's attitude Monday afternoon.

"The one thing about our team now is we've got 80 guys out there, and they're all going to go hard," Gundy said. "If not, they don't have anybody to side with. The attitude is so good that they're going to practice hard, or everybody's going to get on them. That pretty much takes care of itself."
