O'Neill places in state wrestling tournament

Grand Haven (Mich.) 6-7, 290-pound standout Dann O'Neill will one day accept a scholarship to play collegiate football, but he has developed into a pretty good wrestler as well in just his junior year. This past weekend, O'Neill took part in the MHSAA state wrestling finals at the Palace of Auburn Hills and took home a seventh place finish.

The seventh place finish earned O'Neill all-state honors and four of the six wrestlers who placed ahead of him were seniors. He now has over 50 career wins to his credit after finishing 3-2 in his matches this weekend. The weekend may have been even better had he not had a glitch in his concentration heading into his first match.

In recent weeks he has received scholarship offers from UCLA, Florida State and Nebraska.
